COVID-19 Update

Our goal is to provide a homeschool community for kids and grownups that helps our families thrive. SCC follows the latest scientific information and is inclusive of a wide range of risk tolerances.

Hello Families,

The COVID-19 pandemic has been enormously challenging for all of us individually, and our co-op community as a whole.

Since this is an ongoing problem, and there's no way to predict what the future will bring, we have established a framework of fall back systems so that the fall semester classes can be planned with limited disruption should COVID-19 levels change. As the beginning of the semester approaches, we will evaluate these plans based on community transmission levels, guided by extant scientific recommendations and member feedback.

Plan A: IN-PERSON County Weekly Total Case Levels < 100 per 100K OR Test Positivity <10%

  • Classes held in-person, either indoors or outdoors depending on class
  • Up-to-date* vaccination for all members
  • Eating outside only
  • Masking outdoors with cloth masks or better when 6-foot social distance cannot be maintained
  • Masking indoors with respirator masks (N-95, KN-95 or KF-94) at all times

Plan B: HYBRID County Weekly Total Case Levels > 100 per 100K AND Test Positivity > 10%

  • NO indoor classes
  • Up-to-date* vaccination for all members
  • Masking outdoors with cloth masks or better when 6-foot social distance cannot be maintained
  • Masking indoors with respirator masks (N-95, KN-95 or KF-94) at all times
  • Elementary/Middle School classes
    • Tuesdays only
    • All outside, in-person
  • High School Classes
    • Tuesday mornings virtual
    • Tuesday afternoons outside, in-person
    • Thursdays virtual

SCC COVID-19 POLICY

♦ PROOF OF COVID-19 VACCINATION

To participate in SCC activities, members must have up-to-date* COVID-19 vaccinations.

If for health reasons your or one of your family members' vaccinations are not up-to-date, that person must have a negative rapid test result, taken on each day you come to co-op. Contact [email protected] if you have questions.

♦ MASKING

Respirator masks  (N-95, KN-95 or KF-94) must be worn indoors at all times.

In outdoor classes, cloth OR respirator masks may be used.

Outdoors, when 6-foot social distance can be maintained or transmission risk is very low, masks are optional. However, please be thoughtful of other families' needs. The mask isn't just to protect you - you help others, too!

♦ AIR QUALITY MEASURES

Air filatration units are running in all the classrooms when classes are held indoors.

Classroom doors are kept open to promote air exchange. When this is not possible, the classroom windows will be opened.

Windows in the main hall are opened to promote air exchange.

♦ SANITARY MEASURES

Masks, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes are available for member use.

♦ IN CASE OF ILLNESS

If any member of your family is exhibiting symptoms consistent with COVID-19, we ask that all family members stay home and use the CDC Coronavirus Self-Checker below to help you make decisions on when to seek testing and medical care.

*CDC defines "up-to-date" as: having received all doses in the primary series and all booster doses recommended, when eligible.
